As well as being Nottingham’s curtains and blinds specialist, Homecraft Interiors works on lots of large scale commercial interior design projects and on larger homes across the UK.
We do this alongside interior design partners like Deslyn Studio! We have worked with Sarah-Jane on multiple interior design projects now including the one we talk about in this blog. Many of these are full-scale renovations, where we support with details like the curtains, blinds, voiles, poles, tracks and scatter cushions.
Tell us about this interior design project!
This is a home interior design project we worked on with Sarah-Jane in London over a year ago now.
With Sarah-Jane we always start with working off plan whilst the build is still underway to allow us to provide an idea of budgets. As the build develops often new design ideas or customers requests are added to the scheme. We can work fluidly with the interior designer and adapt the budget accordingly, often helping to source special requests.
These cafe style voiles was one of those developements. The designer wanted to come up with a way of providing privacy with still letting in light.
This particular room is beautiful. It has a real understated elegance to it, warm, neutral tones with earthy tones in the russet detailing on the scatter cushions and curtains.
How to hang voiles behind curtains or blinds?
As part of this project, we were asked to make some cafe-style voiles, but Sarah-Jane didn't want to cover the full window, leaving light to still be able to poor in through the windows at the top, this is where the challenge started!
We had to work out a way of fixing the voiles part way down the window. We managed to source a made to measure pole with small enough brackets that we could fit to the wooden window frame. Lots of measuring and remaeasuring was done in order to get this spot on. For the side windows the same pole was used with recess brackets.
We really weren’t sure about how this may sit at first but it actually works very well and gives an added element of privacy to the rooms facing the street, with the blinds and curtains adding the extra blackout required for sleeping.
The smaller details - double piped scatter cushions
The cushions were one of the favourite bits of this project! It’s the small details and in this interior design scheme we were working with a neutral colour scheme so the with darker russet details, it really popped. Sarah-Jane designed these double-piped cushions which we then made, they fit in with the room so well!
