The interior design project we talk about in this blog features our work with Julie Poulter Design. We have worked alongside Julie, who is an interior designer, for many years and have a fab working relationship. We were thrilled when she got in touch to ask if we would assist her with this gorgeous home project in North Yorkshire.

What types of projects do you work on with interior designers?
We work on a variety of projects with interior designers like Julie. Like the one we are talking about in this blog, residential interior design projects, but also larger commercial interior design and office space design too. We have worked on lots of care homes and retirement villages as well as university halls of residence interiors projects in the past too.
But you’re a curtains and blinds specialist? Why work on interior design?
Correct, we specialise in curtains and blinds in our Nottingham shop, but we take our projects from start to finish, and create custom curtains, made to measure curtains as well as creating specialised curtains for living room spaces, kitchen curtains, made to measure blinds, roman blinds and other blinds for windows.
Because our projects are very much on a custom basis, we’re well placed to assist interior designers who are working to very specific budgets, with very specific requests and spaces. We also carry out reupholstery projects, floor coverings (carpets and rugs) and create custom cushions and accessories to go with our curtains and blinds so can assist with these things too.

So how did you work with the interior designer on this project?
Julie, the interior designer plans the residential or commercial interior design project at her end, then she will contact us for a quotation on the curtains and blinds elements. She will sometimes need advice on how to achieve a certain interior look through window coverings, advice on best suited fabrics or curtain tracks options, sometimes even trims and tiebacks. This particular project featured lots of tricky bay windows, one with a radiator at the bottom so we were able to advise on what was possible when it came to bending the curtains tracks. We were also asked to attach beautiful curtain trims which the interior designer had bespokely made and co-ordinating piped cushions here. The interior designer will then confirm plans with the client and we will visit the site with the designer and the client. We’ll all collaborate and come up with a solution that everyone is happy with. We will then go away and make the custom curtains or blinds. Obviously everything is made to measure but sometimes when we return to the site to carry out the curtain fitting, we will carry out small tweaks on site.
